Rev. Emmy Lou Belcher, Settled MinisterSettled Minister

She has been a UU minister since 1989, previously serving churches in Traverse City, Michigan, and Morristown, New Jersey. Before her ordination, she served congregations in Troy, Michigan and Lyons, Ohio, and was the Director of Religious Education for six years at the UU church in Detroit, Michigan.

Rev. Belcher holds a Masters of Religious Studies from the University of Detroit and did her undergraduate work in fine arts at the University of Michigan. Her son, Ben, now lives in Chicago. She also raised a nephew, Michael, who works and attends college in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

As well as being a professional artist, teacher and minister, Rev. Belcher has worked since her teenage years for civil rights for all people, peaceful relations between nations, reproductive rights, ecological well-being, good government and good schools. She invites your comradeship on this journey, enjoying the cultural abundance of human creativity, continuing the quest for right relations among individuals, and forging a beloved community among us.

Steve Cooper, Director of Religious EducationDirector of Religious Education

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. , a long-time member of the church and of the Youth Religious Education Committee, embodies a passionate commitment to instilling Unitarian Universalist values in the youth of our church and incorporating them into the whole life of the church. He became our Director of Religious Education in 2006.

Computer consultant, artist, educator and father of two, he is a modern-day Renaissance man whose many talents inform both his leadership and his cooperative work. His personal attention and genuine interactions build trust with our youth and attract a wide range of interested volunteers. Youth are the future of our church and our world. Steve, along with his staff, touches that future with insight and vision.

Rose Riccio, Membership DirectorMembership Director

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. has been part of the DuPage UU Church community since 2003 and joined the staff in 2007.  She works with newcomers to help them understand Unitarian Universalism and assist them in making connections with others at DuPage UU Church.  As they deepen their commitment to the church by becoming members, Rose helps them find volunteer opportunities that match their interests and hopes for their new religious community.  She works closely with many of the church's committees and small groups, supporting and facilitating their efforts to carry out the ministries of the church.

Rose has an MBA in Leadership and Change Management from DePaul University.  Before joining the church staff, Rose worked in the IT field, then owned and operated a Professional Organizing business.  Volunteer activities outside the church have included:  Program Director for NAPO-Chicago (National Association of Professional Organizers), CASA of Will County (Court Appointed Special Advocate), Chicago Cares Project Coordinator for the Bottomless Closet, Volunteer Manager during Chicago Public Radio pledge drives, and Coordinator for NAPO's Community Service Project with SCARCE.

Bonnie Brewster, Music Director, PianistMusic Director/Pianist

Her dedication to excellence provides inspiring accompaniment to services and other church activities. Bonnie attended Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, and received her music degree from Indiana University. Still living in her childhood home in Wheaton, she has a wonderful husband, Steve Smart, and three children. Natalie is a performance artist based in Tucson, Arizona; Kyle is a web designer in Chicago; and Chloe sings with the Anima Young Singers in Glen Ellyn.

Bonnie has taught private piano lessons for more than 20 years, and is a Past President of the Illinois State Music Teachers Association West Suburban chapter. She enjoys collaborating with instrumentalists and vocalists from the congregation to provide special music for services. Anyone interested in participating in the music programs is encouraged to get involved!

Choir Director

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. became Choir Director in 1997, the Adult choir has grown from a seven-member ensemble to 42 choristers. Her enthusiastic directorial vision inspires great music from both Adult and Youth choirs. She brings expertise and new ideas from her past and current conducting of other church choirs in the area. She also teaches private voice lessons and many church members are among her students.

Vickie received a Bachelor of Music degree with emphasis on Vocal Performance from the University of Illinois. She has sung and soloed in many professional choirs, and performed leading roles in musicals in professional and local theatres. She engages in continuing education in voice, theatre, and music through classes and conferences. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and the American Choral Directors Association. Vickie has a part-time position at Northwestern University as a recruiter for HARP—an NIH-funded hearing research project. Vickie lives in Skokie with her wonderful husband, Jon Siegel, and their endlessly entertaining cats.

Office Manager

She edits and produces the bi-monthly newsletter and also manages office functions including database maintenance, processing contributions, and assisting members and outside organizations with room reservations. She began working part-time in the office in 2003 and transitioned to full-time in 2008. Her exceptional organizational skills and long-term experience with the church are vital to the smooth functioning of this busy community.

Sheri holds an Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies from Central Pennsylvania Business School. Her previous experience includes six years working for an attorney and several years as an at-home mother.
